by our forefathers and matriarchs! At The Main Wayang Company, we are following the spirit of re-inventing ourselves and

entrepreneurship that we have learnt well from our ancestors. We choose to move with the times so that the Peranakan culture can be

relevant to today's modern society and not be doomed as a culture that will 'kick the bucket' by the next generation.

Kaki

The word 'kaki' is a Malay word which means 'leg'.

In our context, it means the 'people whom we work/play with', essentially people who are committed and work closely with and whom we rely on.
These are the people who have been instrumental in helping us in our quest to keep the culture relevant and alive.

If you feel you have the experience, talent or capacity to be our 'kaki' we would love to hear from you to bring the culture to greater heights.

 

Kawan

The word 'kawan' is a Malay word which means 'friend'.

'Kawan Main Wayang' is a division of The Main Wayang Company that engages people who are interested in the Peranakan culture

and excited in being a part of the activities, events and productions by The Main Wayang Company.
We welcome Peranakans and non-Peranakans alike to join as a 'Kawan' (friend) of The Main Wayang Company as

we believe that our unique culture is here for all to share.
